The INTENT framework

The INTENT Pathway

As outlined on the INTENT Framework page, the INTENT Framework is a transformative, evidence based system designed to empower parents and educators with the tools, strategies, and approaches needed to unlock every child’s full potential.

As part of our wider reconceptualising education initiative each month is dedicated to examining a specific theme within the framework.

For every theme, members gain access to a series of focused, research based video lectures available on the NORI learning platform. These lectures provide depth and practical application across home and educational settings.

Umija and Nia members are also invited to participate in a live monthly seminar. Members vote on the focus area, and our experts lead an in depth discussion designed to translate ideas into clear, practical strategies that parents and educators can apply immediately.

Pathways of Delivery

The INTENT Pathway is delivered through three aligned routes:

The Parent Pathway
Supporting parents to intentionally nurture their children at home, aligning daily decisions with their values and their child’s developmental stage.

The Pedagogue Pathway
Equipping educators to apply the framework meaningfully within learning environments, developing reflective, intentional, and research informed practice.

Parent Plus
Creating alignment around the child.
Parent Plus brings both pathways together. Parents receive structured coaching while their nanny or educator enrols in the Pedagogue Pathway. We provide professional supervision and guidance to ensure shared language, shared vision, and consistent implementation across home and care.

Together, these routes rebalance power, strengthen collaboration, and align home and school around the child.

The INTENT Spiral

A Practical Roadmap for Intentionally Nurturing Children

1. Identify

Clarify your philosophy and vision.

We support you to define the kind of person you are nurturing and the values guiding your parenting or professional practice. Through structured reflection, you develop a clear vision that informs decisions with confidence and purpose.

2. Neutralise

Release assumptions and see the child clearly.

We help you step back from unrealistic expectations and inherited beliefs about children and development. You learn to observe without comparison and meet the child where they truly are, recognising individuality and pace.

3. Theorise

Develop a working understanding of the child.

We guide you in observing patterns, strengths, interests, and challenges. Together, we build a thoughtful understanding of how this child learns and develops, shaping informed next steps and meaningful collaboration when needed.

4. Execute

Act intentionally and monitor impact.

We support you in designing practical strategies and environments aligned with your philosophy and the child’s needs. You learn to track responses, reflect on progress, and adjust with clarity rather than guesswork.

5. Negotiate

Adapt in collaboration.

We help you refine your approach as the child grows and identify where additional support may be beneficial. This includes strengthening collaboration with caregivers, educators, and professionals to ensure alignment around development.

6. Transform

Commit to ongoing reflection and growth.

We support you in embedding this process long term. Through continued reflection and structured review, you refine your philosophy, strengthen your confidence, and intentionally nurture the child’s evolving potential.

The INTENT Spiral provides sustained guidance at every stage.

It is the framework used within the Nia memberships and across our partnerships.
