Nea Onnim Research Institute
Research and Education for the socio-economic empowerment of Africa and Africans
About Us
Our name is from the Akan proverb “Nea onnim no sua a ohu,” translated as “He who does not know, learns — and comes to know” (adinkrasymbols.org). Our interpretation is that our ancestors recognised the importance of knowledge-driven action.

is a start-up intradisciplinary, non-partisan, non-profit think tank dedicated to the social and economic development of Africa and Africans, regardless of their physical location on the earth. We believe through research and education, sustainable growth, development and transformation in Africa is achievable in this lifetime.
At NORI,
we use research to find pragmatic solutions to problems for individuals, communities, organisations and beyond, supporting our partners to implement and monitor the solutions. We pride ourselves on making information accessible, enabling everyone to make informed decisions.
Mission
To establish a world-class intradisciplinary, non-partisan, non-profit think tank that harnesses research and education to drive the social and economic empowerment of Africa and Africans—regardless of where they live in the world.
We believe that through research and education, sustainable growth, development, and transformation in Africa are achievable in our lifetime.
Strategy
We pursue rigorous, interdisciplinary research rooted in pragmatism. Our findings are used to:
- Develop educational principles that promote sustainable growth and self-actualisation.
- Offer practical solutions to urgent social and policy challenges, acknowledging the complexity of social dynamics and political realities.
- Support individuals, organisations, and policymakers in implementing research-based solutions.
- Cultivate a global community of stakeholders committed to the socioeconomic empowerment of all Africans.
- Ensure knowledge is accessible, empowering people to make informed decisions.
We aim to empower people of all ages to take control of their future in the ways they can and advocate for themselves where they cannot.
